BOSTON – Suffolk women's golf has an action-packed weekend ahead as the Rams are set to face Husson and Wellesley head-to-head. The blue-and-gold will first head to Bangor, Maine to take on the Eagles at 11:30 a.m. at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course Saturday, Sept. 24, before battling the Blue on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10:00 a.m. the Nehoiden Golf Club in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Suffolk women's golf shot past Westfield State, 341-464, Sept. 11 at the Shaker Farms Country Club to open its 2022 season.

EAGLES EYE
Husson sent three student-athletes to the Polar Bear Shootout and State of Maine Invitational Sept. 10-11.  

Lindsay Cote proved to be the top golfer for the Eagles. She shot an 89 on day one of action and shaved off seven strokes in the second competition of the season. Allie Weinert, meanwhile, scored a 94 and 103, respectively, while Caitlyn Chabot carded over a 100 in each outing. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Both NWGC members, Suffolk and Husson have met just twice in a head-to-head match. 
  • The Rams are unbeaten, 2-0, against the Eagles. 
  • Last season, Suffolk defeated Husson, 728-766, in a two-day event, at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course Sept. 18-19, 2021.
  • Suffolk won the first-ever meeting, 372-477, April 10, 2021 at the Dutch Elm Country Club. 

BLUE BREAKDOWN
Wellesley has two events under its belt, the Bowdoin State of Maine Invitational and the Wesleyan Invitational. At the State of Maine invitational September 11, the Blue sent a pair of squads and they finished in first and second, respectively, in the five-team field.  At Wesleyan a week later Wellesley took third in the seven-team field. 

The Blue will split up this weekend with half its team heading to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the Williams Fall Invitational and the other half staying behind to face Suffolk.

  • Suffolk and Wellesley will meet for the first time. 

RAMS RECOGNITION
Isabel Smith of the Suffolk women's golf team was selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Player of the Week Sept. 14.

Suffolk is set to head to Wilton, New York next weekend, Oct. 1-2, for two Northeast Women's Golf Course (NWGC) events. The NWGC Fall Classic, Saturday, Oct. 1 opens the weekend followed by the NWGC Invitational Sunday, Oct. 2.
