Women’s Golf Takes Fourth at CORTACA Northeast Invitational

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Brooke Chapman's top 10 finish highlighted Suffolk women's golf's fourth-place finish at the two-day CORTACA Northeast Invitational. Saturday saw the Rams navigate the course of Country Club of Ithaca, while concluding the contest on Sunday at the Cortland Country Club. 

Suffolk would garner fourth, penciling a team card of 750. The blue-and-gold found itself in fifth after the first day on the green with a day one total of 383. The change of course benefited the Rams, who leapt over Nazareth, thanks to a 367 on day two, to climb into fourth place. The two host institutions, Ithaca and SUNY Cortland, would battle it out for the top two spots. SUNY Cortland took first behind a 653. Ithaca was nine strokes behind (662) in second. 

Chapman would emerge has the leader for the Rams from the get go with an 84 on the opening day of competition. The sophomore held her position in the top 10 with a day two score of 85. With an overall scorecard of 169, Chapman shared seventh place with Ithaca's Cristea Park. 

Nicole Antonucci posted a 91 on each course. Her total 182 put the Suffolk junior in 19th overall in the field of 38.  

Tess Adams lowered her day one performance of 101 by nine strokes to complete the two-day event with a 193 to tie for 27th. 

Madison Scheinberg closed out the Rams team card with an overall score of 206, which put the sophomore in 34th.  

A quick turnaround sees Suffolk prepare for its first two-day conference championship, traveling back to New York where it will compete at the NWGC Championships at the Colonie Country Club in Voorheesville, New York next week.
