Antonucci Medalist, Women’s Golf Runner-Up at Husson Invitational

BANGOR, Maine – Anchored by Nicole Antonucci's top finish, the Suffolk women's golf team opened the 2019 campaign with a second-place showing at the Husson Invitational over the weekend at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.

Suffolk's runner-up performance came behind a team card of 727. The Rams shot a 371 on day one to sit six strokes behind Husson. On the second day, Suffolk beat out Husson, 356-359, but it was not enough to make up the first day's deficit. The Eagles sat atop the three-team field after the weekend with a 724. Rhode Island College rounded out the competition with an 825. 

Individually, the blue-and-gold shined. Antonucci was Suffolk's star on the course. Her 87 day one card put the junior in second -place, but it was her Sunday that put her out of reach. The Belmont, New Hampshire, product turned up her performance, shooting a 77 to total a 164, six strokes ahead of the competition. 

Brooke Chapman shared second with Husson's Katie Goulet. The Suffolk junior bested her 88 day one with a 84 on Sunday to finish with a 172 overall. 

Tess Adams' 189 performance behind a 96 and 93, respectively, had the senior in the middle of the 13-golfer pack in seventh. 

Madison Scheinberg rounded out the Rams on the course with an 11-place showing behind a score of 202. 

Suffolk has little time off as it hits the green again this weekend with a trip up to Cortland, New York on the schedule for the two-day CORTACA Northeast Invitational Sept. 28-29.
