
BRISTOL, R.I. – A sluggish third quarter proved to be the difference for the sixth-seeded Suffolk women's basketball team, who fell to third seed Roger Williams, 64-59, in the Conference of New England (CNE) First Round Tuesday night at the Hawks' Campus Rec Center.
In the setback, Amanda DeAngelis cemented her spot in the Rams' record book as the program's all-time rebounded with 951 career caroms to her credit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk commanded the pace of play from the get-go as it exploded out to a 16-4 cushion in the first frame. The early edge came behind 10 unanswered points including four apiece from DeAngelis and Allison Bono.
An even second stanza allowed the blue-and-gold to remain in front by double figures at halftime, 29-19.
The Hawks flew out of the locker room and outscored the blue-and-gold 21-8 in the third quarter to put the Rams in a three-point, 40-37, hole as the game headed to the fourth.
That gap grew to as many as a dozen twice with the last at 51-39, with just over seven minutes left on the clock.
Eight straight Suffolk points, including six from DeAngelis, sliced the gap to four, 51-47, with 3:48 to go.
Back-and-forth action closed out the contest and the Rams could not complete the comeback.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Guinta finished game-high 17 points. She added 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal.
- DeAngelis compiled a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double with a pair of helpers to her credit as well.
- Allison Bono notched 15 points on a 7-for-11 effort from the floor. The sophomore's stat line featured three boards and two takeaways.
- Aisling Crowley chipped in seven points, five boards, four steals, two blocks and one dime.
- Suffolk shot just 35.3 percent (24-68) on the night, 33.3 percent (4-12) from 3-point land and 58.3 percent (7-12) at the line.
- The Hawks outrebounded the Rams, 47-44.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk made its 29th consecutive conference postseason appearance.
- The Rams competed in the postseason as the sixth seed for the first time since 2006 and first time in the CNE tournament.
- Tonight's tilt was Suffolk's 50th league postseason.

- DeAngelis became Suffolk's all-time leading rebounder with 951 career rebounds, upstaging Alexis Hackett, who pulled down 947 from 2016-20.
