
BOSTON – Colby Guinta and Jordan Moreau poured in double figure to power Suffolk women's basketball to a 63-46 Conference of New England (CNE) victory over Hartford Wednesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of the second tie of the net at 10-all, Suffolk went on a quarter-ending 7-1 run to go up 17-11 with 10 minutes in the books.
The Hawks flew back with a 6-2 spurt to cut the gap to two, 19-17. The Rams responded with a 7-2 stretch of their own to regain a seven-point advantage, 26-19, with 4:19 to go before halftime.
Hartford fought back and sliced the deficit down to one-possession, 26-23, at the 2:55 mark.
The teams went hoop-for-hoop the rest of the way and Suffolk sat in front, 33-28, when the teams went to the locker rooms.
Out of the break the Hawks clawed back and pulled within one-possession once again, 40-37, at the midway point of the third.
It was all Suffolk from there as the Rams closed the quarter with five unanswered points to build a 45-37 cushion.
Momentum remained in the blue-and-gold's favor to get the fourth frame underway as the host strung together a 5-1 spurt to gain a 53-38 lead with 5:40 left in regulation.
Full court pressure by Hartford forced Suffolk to play quick, but thanks to its double digit distance, the Rams managed to coast to the x-x conference triumph.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Guinta finished with a game-high 20 points on a 7-for-15 effort from the floor. The junior was one rebound shy of a double-double and added one assist and steal, respectively.
- Moreau contributed 15 points on a 5-for-11 showing from the field to go along with three caroms, three helpers and two takeaways.
- Allison Bono registered eight points and three rebounds.
- Maddie Stewart supplied seven points, three boards, one block and one steal.
- Suffolk shot 40.7 percent (22-54) on the night, 37.5 percent (6-16) from 3-point land and 86.7 percent (13-15) from the free throw line.
- The Rams out rebounded the Hawks, 42-36.
- More than one third of Suffolk's offense came in the paint with 26 points in the key.
- The Rams turned their 11 offensive rebounds into 11 points.
- Hartford's reserves were responsible for 30 points.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Rams have defeated the Hawks in back-to-back battles for the first time in program history.
- Suffolk improved to 2-1 all-time against Hartford.
- The blue-and-gold is unbeaten, 2-0 versus the Hawks in Boston.
