BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball starts its Conference of New England (CNE) calendar Wednesday, Dec. 4 when it travels to the University of New England for a 5:30 p.m. matchup.

SUFFOLK IN CNE OPENERS

  • Suffolk opened its CNE (formerly CCC) in the win column for the first time a year ago with an 86-69 win over Gordon to move to 1-2 all-time in CNE debuts. 
  • Suffolk has split its time on the road (1-1) and at home (0-1) for its first CNE tilt of a campaign. 
  • The Rams will begin their CNE schedule on the road for the second straight season. 
  • The Rams and University of New England will tangle in the first CNE contest of the year for the second time, first since 2021. 
  • Suffolk fell to the Nor'Easters in the first-ever CNE contest, 54-52, Dec. 1, 2021. 

LEAGUE DEBUTS

  • Suffolk is 18-12 (0-2 NEWAC / 17-8 GNAC / 1-2 CNE) all-time in its first conference contest of the season. 
  • Under Ed Leyden, the Rams sport an 18-11 record in its first league outing of a year. 
  • In its conference debut, the blue-and-gold is 10-4 at home, 7-6 on the road and 1-0 at a neutral site. The location of the league openers for the NEWAC is unknown. 
  • Suffolk has gone into overtime in its first conference contest of the year once, a double overtime 62-57 triumph over Johnson & Wales Jan. 7, 2012. 

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's basketball suffered a 74-61 setback to Salve Regina Tuesday night as the Seahawks rallied by the Rams in the fourth frame at the Rodgers Recreation Center. The blue-and-gold was outscored 28-16 in the final 10 minutes to be handed its second loss of the season.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk women's basketball slipped to Salve Regina, 74-61, prior to Thanksgiving to move to 5-2 on the year.  

Amanda DeAngelis leads the way on both sides of the hardwood for the Rams with 16.7 ppg and 11.3 rpg. Colby Guinta sits second on the squad in both categories as well with 13.3 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Maddie Stewart supplies 11.1 ppg to the Rams' 67.9 ppg offense. 

NOR'EASTER NOTES
The University of New England fell to Bates, 65-36, Sunday to sit 3-4 on the year.  

Faye Veilleux leads the offense with 16.7 ppg and Sydney Jenisch adds 10.6 ppg to the team's 55.29 ppg scoring that is primarily set-up by Grace Boucher's 3.4 apg.

Maddy Werner paces the defensive unit with 7.1 rpg and 1.1 bpg. Veilleux chips in 6.1 rpg and 1.9 spg.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk sits 1-6 all-time against the University of New England. 
  • The Rams first and only win over the Nor'Easters came, Feb. 16, 2023, via a 62-59 decision. 
  • The foes last tangle was a 69-61 Suffolk setback Feb. 14, 2024.
