Women’s Basketball Blasts Rivier, 88-45, in Regular-Season Finale

NASHUA, N.H. – Suffolk women's basketball put an exclamation point on its regular-season with an 88-45 convincing win over Rivier Saturday afternoon at Muldoon Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk started the game on a 9-2 run with all the scoring coming from Jenni-Rose DiCecco. That early opening remained at the end of the first 10 minutes in the Rams' favor, 25-9.  

The second stanza was a see-saw affair that had the Raiders go basket-for-basketball. Thanks to its first frame advantage though, Suffolk headed into half time ahead, 43-26.  

The blue-and-gold put the game away out of the intermission as it outscored the hosts 22-8 over the third set of 10 minutes to extend it advantage to 65-34.  

Suffolk's scoring kept up in the fourth frame with nearly every player producing at least two points to help secure the 88-45 victory.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • DiCecco's 15 points anchored the offense. The floor general distributed four assists, had six steals, three rebounds and one block in 25 minutes. 
  • Alexis Hackett helped on both ends of the floor with a 13-point, eight-rebound, four-assist, four-steal, one-block day. 
  • Natalie Fraioli completed the trio in double figures with 12 points behind a 5-for-6 showing from the floor to go along with four caroms. 
  • Gabriella DeComo and Lily Patneaude each contributed nine points with the latter's coming sticking from three-point land, where she shot 3-for-3. 
  • As a team, Suffolk shot 58.1 percent (36-62) on the day and 40.0 percent (6-15) from downtown. 
  • The Rams also edged out the Raiders on the glass, 39-31.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk defeated Rivier for the sixth straight meeting to move to 25-5 all-time against the Raiders. 
  • DiCecco matched a career-high six takeaways. 
  • Rachel LaSaracina dished out three helpers, which match a personal-best. 
  • Kaleigh Matulonis' three steals are a personal-high. 
  • Alli Cavallo matched career-highs in points (6), and rebounds (3) and set a new personal-best in field goals made with a 3-for-4 effort. 
  • Patneaude's nine points off three triples made each match a personal-high.
