Women’s Basketball Wraps Up Regular-Season at Rivier Saturday

BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball concludes the 2019-20 regular-season on the road Saturday, Feb. 22 as the Rams make the trip to Rivier for a 1 p.m. tip-off.

LAST TIME OUT
The GNAC clash between the Rams and Chargers came down to the wire and the Suffolk women's basketball team came out on the wrong side of a 63-60 decision Tuesday night at Smith Court.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk heads into its final regular-season outing 16-8 on the season and 7-3 in GNAC play. 

The Rams are pouring in 64.1 ppg as a squad with a trio of student-athletes producing double figures. Jenni-Rose DiCecco commands the offense with a 15.1 ppg and 4.8 apg effort. Gabriella DeComo supplied 10.5 ppg, while Alexis Hackett is on the verge of averaging a double-double with 10.0 ppg and 9.4 rpg.

Overall the team grabs 40.8 rpg with Emily Welling and DiCecco adding 5.1 rpg and 4.5 rpg, respectively.

RAIDERS REVIEW
River has been unable to find the win column since opening conference competition. That 12-game skid has put the Raiders at 4-19 on the season and 0-10 in GNAC action. 

As a team, Rivier is putting up 56.3 ppg with the threesome of Cydney Lessard (13.0 ppg), Arianna Motivala (12.0 ppg) and Heather Ries (10.5 ppg) taking on the bulk of the load.

Defensively, the Raiders grab 42.9 rpg. Grumblatt anchors that effort with 13.1 rpg to complete the double-double average. Ries chips in 7.6 rpg and Catherine Torpey contributes 5.1 rpg.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk has bested Rivier in five consecutive contests to lengthen its all-time series lead to 24-5.
