BOSTON –Riding a five-game win streak, the Suffolk women's basketball team will tip off for the final time in 2017 as the Rams welcome Boston Commons neighbor Emerson to Regan Gymnasium Tuesday, Dec. 12 for a 5 p.m. tilt.

DOUBLEHEADER
Tuesday's clash marks the second time this season that the Suffolk women and men will take the Larry E. Smith & Michael S. Smith Court on the same day. 

Both teams are 1-0 when playing a doubleheader at Regan Gymnasium with the women coasting past Mount Ida, 84-61, and the men putting on a thrilling 68-56 comeback over Saint Joseph's (Maine) December 2.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk women's basketball team extended its win streak to five thanks to a thrilling 90-87 overtime victory at Framingham State Saturday afternoon.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk put together its fifth consecutive win Saturday in a 90-87 overtime thriller at Framingham State to improve to 7-2 on the season. 

The Rams are posting nearly 70 points per outing with 69.6 ppg to their credit thanks in large part to the senior, freshman tandem of Georgia Bourikas and Jenni-Rose DiCecco. Bourikas anchors Suffolk with 15.8 ppg with DiCecco closely behind at 15.1 ppg. Alexis Hackett and Jordan Hipwell are also consistent contributors, averaging 9.1 ppg and 8.3 ppg, respectively. 

Defensively, sophomore Hackett paves the path with 11.4 rpg. Bourikas (5.9 rpg), DiCecco (5.6 rpg) and Hipwell (5.6 rpg) all add Suffolk's 42.8 rpg with the Rams outrebounding their opponents by a 7.4 margin.

LIONS LOOK
Emerson's record is the reverse of Suffolk at 2-7 as the Lions are winless through their last four contests including a 75-72 setback Saturday to Western New England. 

Emerson drops 60.4 ppg with a pair of Lions tallying double digits in Kate Foultz (13.1 ppg) and Natalie Busch (10.0 ppg). Sam Boyle and Natalie Clydesdale chip in 8.4 ppg and 8.3 ppg, respectively.

On the glass, Boyle's 8.3 rpg lead the way with Clydesdale pitching in 5.3 rpg

THE SERIES
Suffolk renews a rivalry with Emerson as the two teams meet for the first time since the 2012-13 season. Overall, the Rams hold a 20-7 lead in the all-time series with the Lions thanks in large to its 15-game win streak against Emerson 1992-2007.

EYES ON THE GAME

STARTING IT OFF
Suffolk is off to its best start at 7-2 since matching that to open the 2012-13 campaign. With a win Saturday, the Rams will wrap up first semester at 8-2 marking the first time the blue-and-gold won eight of its first 10 contests in the program's 35 seasons.

STREAKING
The Rams have rattled off five consecutive wins. The win streak marks the longest for the blue-and-gold since combining eight wins to open second semester action last season in 2017.

RECORD WATCH
Georgia Bourikas looks to stamp her name in the Rams' record book this season. The senior is just 137 points shy of the coveted 1,000-point milestone. The guard from Hull, Massachusetts, also looks to move her current fourth-place standing on the all-time treys made list with 123 up, while she also has the chance to seal up spots on the all-time assists (171) and blocks (29) list.

WEEKLY RECOGNITION
Suffolk women's basketball swept the GNAC weekly honors as Georgia Bourikas and Jenni-Rose DiCecco were named the GNAC Corvias Player and Rookie, respectively, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
