BOSTON – Suffolk softball has a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheaders in store this weekend as the Rams are scheduled to entertain Wentworth at East Boston Memorial Park Saturday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m., before visiting Roger Williams Sunday, April 21 for a 12:00 p.m. game one start.

LAST TIME OUT
In a see-saw affair, Suffolk softball landed on the wrong side of a 6-5 decision as Bridgewater State took down the Rams in the nightcap in five innings. The second game of a non-conference doubleheader was called due to darkness.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has split its last three twinbills to carry a 15-17 overall record and 5-5 CCC ledger into the weekend.
Becky Zellin's bat has brought in 21 runs on 26 hits including nine doubles and five homers. The junior has added 18 runs scored. Julia Mills, meanwhile, has barreled a team-best 35 hits and plated 20 runs. Ella Turnbull has also brought in 20 runs on 39 hits, while Catherine Carignan has chipped in 33 hits, 17 RBI and 16 runs scored.
Lily Newhall and Cynthia Rucinski are the usual starts for the Rams in the circle. Newhall holds a 2.96 ERA over 75.2 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts. Cynthia Rucinski boasts a 4.13 ERA in 79.1 innings of work with 64 punchouts.
LEOPARDS LOOK
Wentworth has won three games in a row, including a twinbill sweep of Salem State Wednesday to carry a 17-13 overall record and 5-3 CCC mark into Saturday.
Katie Kranz (25 H, 23 RBI, 7 R), Kyla Igawa (39 H, 21 RBI, 18 R) and Kaitlin Pettenger (32 H, 12 RBI, 31 R) are the top three threats offensively for the Leopards.
Julia Schriver appears to be WIT's ace with a 2.10 ERA in 110.0 innings and 103 strikeouts. She has appeared in 21 games with 15 starts with 12 complete games. Jess Rowe is the other main starter for Wentworth with a 3.02 ERA in 85.2 innings with 50 punchouts.

Roger Williams split a non-conference twinbill with Mitchell Tuesday to bring a 12-14 overall record and 2-6 CCC mark into the weekend that opens at Gordon Saturday.
Three every day starts have brought in double-digit runs this year in Taylor Howell (14), Jamie Wells (14) and Shannon Starratt (13). Starratt has a team-best 31 hits, while Howell and Wells have produced 25 hits and 23 hits, respectively. Run wise, Starratt has scored 20 times.
RWU cycles through three different starts on the rubbering Raegen Germano (1.48 ERA, 71.0 IP, 57 K), Natalie Lundari (4.04 ERA, 34.2 IP, 22 K) and Skye Merrow (4.14 ERA, 47.1 IP, 25 K).

RAMS RECOGNITION
Lily Newhall of the Suffolk softball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after compiling a 1.50 ERA over 24.0 innings in a 3-3 week for the Rams, the league office announced Wednesday. The sophomore shared the recognition with the University of New England's Cat Higgins.
