Newhall Tabbed CCC Co-Pitcher of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Lily Newhall of the Suffolk softball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after compiling a 1.50 ERA over 24.0 innings in a 3-3 week for the Rams, the league office announced Wednesday. The sophomore shared the recognition with the University of New England's Cat Higgins.

The right-handed twirler opened the week with a one-run, one-hit, one-strikeout, complete-game win at Curry. She came on in reliever for 2.0 innings at Emmanuel a day later and logged one strikeout. Three days later, she started and put together a two-run, three-hit, two-walk, two-strikeout performance in a complete-game at Nichols, before earning the extra-inning win over Gordon with a four-run, one-earned, seven-hit, two-walk, one-K, 8.0-inning outing.

Newhall is the third Ram to be recognized with a weekly distinction from the CCC this season as Catherine Carignan and Becky Zellin were honored as CCC Players of the Week, March 11 and March 26, respectively. Newhall is the first Suffolk pitcher to garner the honor since Jenny Jacob March 21, 2022. The three weekly accolades are the most since Suffolk collected four (two rookie, one player, one pitcher) in 2022.

Suffolk and Newhall are back in action this afternoon, Wednesday, April 17 with a non-conference double feature at Bridgewater State. Action of game one is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
