BOSTON – Suffolk softball returns to action Wednesday, April 10 with a non-conference clash at Becker. The Rams will serve as the home team in the doubleheader, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk softball broke a 3-all tie in the top of the seventh with a one-run single fromKelly Keane to take down Rivier, 4-3, in game two of the GNAC double feature Saturday, April 6 at Presentation of Mary.

RAMS RUNDOWN
After sweeping its first GNAC twinbill of the season Suffolk brings an 11-9 overall record into the Wednesday action. 

Caitlin Murphy's bat leads the way as the freshman holds a slash line of .404/.467/.481 with numbers that top the team in hits (21), runs (12) and stolen bases (6). Jaclyn Flint, who is batting .322, is second on the squad with 19 hits for a squad-best 12 RBI to go alone with eight runs scored. Grace Boehler and Kelly Keane have each supplied 17 hits. Boehler has scored 11 runs, brought in eight and swiped four bags, while Keane has seven RBI and three runs scored to her credit. Ashley Zulla adds depth at the dish with 16 hits, 10 RBI and six runs scored.  

In the circle, Kennedy Reyes has proven herself as the Rams' ace. The rookie has worked the most innings, 44.0, over 12 appearances including seven starts, for a staff-best in ERA (3.82) and strikeouts (31). Constance Phelan has competed in the most contests, 13, with 37.1 frames under her belt. The sophomore has struck out 20 hitters. Hannah DelCervo is also a constant in the circle with 30.2 innings of action and 19 strikeouts for a 4.34 ERA. 

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Becker has been on a roll as of late, winning seventh straight, to bring a 12-10 overall record into the midweek matchup.  

Vasia Murphy and Sarah Ellis provide a one-two punch at the plate as each have produced 29 hits. Murphy, who is batting .439, has a team-best 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and three stolen bases. Ellis, meanwhile, is hitting .392, for 16 RBI and 18 runs scored.  

The Hawks rotate between Ashley Veillette and Samantha Belenchia on the rubber. Veillette has seen 71.2 innings in which the freshman has put together a 4.79 ERA with 31 strikeouts. Veillette holds an ERA of 5.22 with 15 Ks in 63.0 innings of action. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Rams hold an unblemished 5-0 record versus Becker in the all-time series, which dates back to 2011. 
  • Suffolk is unbeaten versus Becker in the Jaclyn Davis era as the Rams defeated the Hawks, 3-2, in the 2015 ECAC Tournament May 6. 
  • The Rams have run-ruled the Hawks twice, first in 2011 by an 17-3 margin in five frames and again the next season, 10-2, in six stanzas.

Suffolk returns to conference contests this weekend when it hosts Norwich Saturday, April 13 at East Boston Memorial Park before trekking to Saint Joseph (Conn.) the next day, Sunday, April 14. Both doubleheaders are set for a 12 p.m., game one first pitch.
