BOSTON – The Suffolk softball opens its 2016 GNAC campaign as it travels to Norwich for a doubleheader Tuesday, April 5. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
In its first home action of the 2016 season and the first official Suffolk softball game at East Boston Memorial Park, the Rams posted a pair of wins over Emerson, downing the Lions 2-1 in Game 1 and 11-4 in Game 2 March 30.

RUN DOWN ON THE RAMS
Jill Pulek and Delaney Sylvester lead all players with 17 hits. Pulek has been a power source, leading the team in RBI (11), runs (12), homers (2), slugging percentage (.711) and is tied for the team lead in doubles (four). Evelyn Marquis has a team-best .520 batting average and .567 on-base percentage.
Taylor Holmes is leading a strong group of pitchers for Suffolk, leading the team with a 2.05 earned-run average. Ali Yamakaitis, meanwhile, boasts team-best numbers in strikeouts (20) and innings pitching (35.2).

ROOKIE RECOGNITION
Every week Suffolk has been in action this season a rookie has been recognized with back-to-back GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week accolades. Jill Pulek earned the distinction March 14, while Evelyn Marquis garnered the honor March 21.

CATCH UP ON THE CADETS
Norwich dropped its first 10 games of the season before opening GNAC play with a doubleheader sweep over Rivier Saturday. The Cadets defeated the Raiders 9-7 in Game 1 and 9-4 in Game 2.
Taylor Morris leads the team with 13 hits and a .342 batting average. Angie Hershberger, meanwhile, has brought in the most runs (7) on just eight hits.
In the circle, Rachel Johnson has seen the most action, starting seven games, throwing 40.2 innings, allowing 49 hits, 42 runs and 35 walks. The freshman pitcher is 1-6 with a 4.99 ERA.
