Men’s Cross Country Duo Grabs USTFCCCA All-East

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk men's cross country saw multiple student-athletes earn All-East status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Association over the weekend in Tim Barry and Hayden Green

Athletes earned all-region distinction by virtue of a top-35 finish at one of the ten NCAA Division III regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for the awards. 

It is the second time in as many years and in Suffolk's history that more than one student-athlete took home the distinction. The two honors tie a program record, which was set last season.  

Barry collected his second straight accolade to become the second-ever Ram to have multiple all-region nods from the national organization on his resume, first Matyas Csiki-Fejer picked up three in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Green meanwhile, garnered the feat for the first time in his collegiate career.  

The twosome was instrumental to the blue-and-gold's eighth-place team performance, which tied a program-record. 

Barry led the Rams for the second consecutive campaign. The senior captain closed out his collegiate cross country career with an 8k time of 25:43.03 to claim 25th in the 228-runner field.

Green was the second Suffolk runner to come through the chute. He The junior was nine spots behind Barry in 34th with a time of 25:54.74. 

Overall, 350 men from 139 programs earned the accolade. Suffolk's two was the most of Conference of New England (CNE) programs in the East as one student-athlete from Endicott, Wentworth and the University of New England finished in the top-35 as well. Roger Williams had three student-athletes achieve the mark in the Mideast Region. 

Both of Suffolk's cross country teams, men and women, had runners race to the accomplishment. The Rams are one of two CNE institutions to see that happen his year alongside UNE. Overall, 88 institutions had both their respective men's and women's team have at least one student-athlete garner the award.
