MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Suffolk men's cross country finished sixth at the Cardinal Invitational Saturday on a wet, rainy and soggy The Wes Fuhrman '05 Trails Cross Country Course.
The Rams totaled 173 points to take sixth in the eight-team field. Suffolk's finish was one better than its Conference of New England (CNE) rival Endicott, who slid into seventh with a 201. No. 17 Amherst won the meet with 37. No. 20 Tufts claimed second with a 46 and the host Wesleyan rounded out the top three with a 68.
SUFFOLK'S SCORERS
- Thomas Novy came through the finisher's chute in 25:42.9 to take 25th in the field of 114th. The senior's showing was the best of any CNE student-athlete on the course.
- Tim Barry was two stpots behind Novy in 27th with a 25:48.2 showing.
- Hayden Green's 27:17.8 was good for 64th with Connor Hayward three spots behind thanks to a 27:28.8.
- Cam Fredette finished 69th with a time of 27:31.3.
- Jacob Dubin crossed the tape in 27:46.4 to claim 74th.
- Patrick Lambe's 88th performance on a time of 28:50.9 was the final scorer for Suffolk.
RAMS RECORDS
- Four Suffolk student-athletes in Novy (25:42.9), Fredette (27:31.3), Lambe (28:50.9) and Michael Najarian (33:48.8) logged 8k personal records.
THAT'S A FIRST
- Sebastian Vickers-Richard (29:42.4) and Declan Shannon (29:53.7) competed a collegiate 8k for the first time in their collegiate careers.
DEBUTS
- Novy competed for the first time in 2024.
MORE RAM RUNNERS
- Matthew McGoldrick raced the 8k as well and finished in 35:56.1.

Suffolk will rest up for its next action, The Pre-National Championship, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4 at Rose Hulman in Terre Haute, Indiana.
