Csiki-Fejer Earns USTFCCCA All-East Region

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Matyas Csiki-Fejer of the Suffolk men's cross country team ran his way to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East honors, the national organization announced Monday afternoon.

Csiki-Fejer was one of 350 men from 128 different programs to pick up an all-region accolade by virtue of a top-35 finish at one of the 10 regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for awards.

Suffolk's senior captain captured fourth in the highly competitive 236-runner field at Franklin Park Saturday afternoon. He cruised with the top pack throughout the 8k course and came through the finisher's chute in 25:41. The fourth-place performance is not only the highest by Csiki-Fejer, but marks the highest regional finish by a Rams' runner, male or female, and a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athlete in the conference's history.

The all-region recognition from USTFCCCA is the third for Csiki-Fejer in his career as he took home USTFCCCA All-New England as a freshman and sophomore, respectively. He is the only Suffolk male student-athlete to garner USTFCCCA all-region under Will Feldman's guidance.

Csiki-Fejer will continue his campaign this Saturday, Nov. 23 when he runs at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky at E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park at 12 p.m.
