Men’s Cross Country Stays Put at Eighth in East Region in USTFCCCA Coaches Rankings

USTFCCCA RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS – Since debuting in the inaugural United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Coaches Regional Ranks two weeks ago, the Suffolk men's cross country team has held down the eighth spot in the weekly poll, even with a bye week, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each representative region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining in a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receiving a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

Suffolk made the program debut on the weekly list Sept. 14. Since then, the Rams have had a standout showing at the 48th UMass Dartmouth Invitational Sept. 18 where Matyas Csiki-Fejer claimed the individual title with a program-record 5-mile time of 23:36 to repeat in the East's eighth spot.

The Rams look to change up their weekly regional selection next week after competing at the Mike Woods Invitational this weekend at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, New York.
