Tim Morse enters his fourth season on Will Feldman’s staff as an assistant coach of the men’s and women’s outdoor and indoor track and field team in 2021-22. Morse works primarily with the throwers.
Suffolk throwers have had regional ranking performer’s under Morse’s guidance in his first three seasons.
He has coached a pair of regional competitors in Allison Rodrigues, who is the first Suffolk field student-athlete to compete at New Englands, accomplishing the feat as a freshman in the 2018-19 indoor season, and Michael Balestra, the first-ever Ram field athlete to garner All-New England honors, earning the nod as a freshman in the 2019 outdoor season
Under Morse’s leadership, two athletes have combined for four individual GNAC crowns and six all-league accolades highlighted by Balestra’s 2019-20 Indoor GNAC Field Athlete of the Year nod. Additionally, Balestra and Rodrigues swept the 2019 Outdoor GNAC Field Rookie of the Year awards.
After having the 2020 outdoor season cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Suffolk was sidelined until the 2021 outdoor season.
Allison Rodrigues highlighted Suffolk's inaugural CCC debut. The junior captain put the Rams on the new league's map as she went unbeaten in the regular season in all four fielding events to garner CCC Field Athlete of the Year honors to go along with three all-conference accolades including individual champion status in javelin.
The men, who remained in the GNAC as associate members, had their championship competition cancelled due to safety concerns, however, individuals still stood out. Michael Balestra earned his second all-region honor of his career, the first Suffolk thrower, male or female, to be acknowledged with all-region accolades twice in their careers, with a All-New England nod from the USTFCCCA in the hammer throw.
Suffolk’s athletic success is complimented by back-to-back USTFCCCA Academic Team accolades, both of which came with Morse on Feldman’s staff in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Morse has long been a lynchpin of the New England throwing community; he has been an assistant track and field coach at Hingham High School for the past 14 seasons, as well as a private coach. At Hingham, he helped lead the Harbormen to six All-State Championships, 14 Divisional State Championships, and over 30 league titles. He brings a variety of expertise and insights to the Suffolk program as the coach of numerous All-Americans in weight and hammer, discus, and shot put.
Morse also served as an assistant at Northeastern University, his alma mater, where he spent two years on the coaching staff. Between 2010-12 Morse assisted with three conference champions, two NCAA qualifiers, and multiple New England qualifiers.
Before joining the Rams Morse took his talents to UMass Boston in 2015 where he coached all throwers to their personal best in their respective events during his first season. In his two seasons with the Beacons he developed strength and conditioning programs for throwers to follow, led UMass to two conference championships, and coached Taylor Smith to the NCAA National Championship where she finished 15th overall.
On the field, Morse is a four-time National Masters Track and Field Champion in hammer and weight. He also earned the bronze in the World Masters Track and Field Championships in 2011 in weight.
Morse earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from Northeastern University.
