Men’s Indoor Track & Field Begins 2022-23 at Suffolk Relays

BOSTON – Suffolk men's indoor track & field started its 2022-23 campaign at the Suffolk Relays Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center. The meet, which saw five blue-and-gold personal records and five student-athletes make their collegiate debut, marks the first indoor that the Rams hosted in the program's history. 

Carter Nevulis finished fourth in the 60m hurdles, the top finish of a Suffolk runner at the event. He clocked a time personal-best time of 8.66. Amari Addison (9.96) and Joshua Catino (10.76) competed in the race for the first time in their collegiate careers. 

Cole Bolduc turned in a top-10 showing as well, his came in the 400. The senior ran one lap around the track in 52.51. 

Both Bolduc and Nevulis participated in the 200. Bolduc topped the five Rams in the event with a time of 24.22. Nevulis, meanwhile, logged a career-high time of 24.58. Jack Phelps (24.53), who made his collegiate indoor debut, Joshua Durand (24.89) and Turner Mitchell (25.30) were featured in the half lap around the track as well. 

Mitchell (7.59), Phelps (7.72) and Durand (7.75) all raced the 60-meter dash, alongside Gavin Reid (8.31). Durand and Reid recorded personal bests in the event.

Eduardo Silva claimed 11th in the high jump as he cleared 1.70. In the long jump, Reid registered a 24th-place performance behind a 5.39-meter leap. 

Suffolk saw a large showing in the field events.  

The foursome of Isaiah Traore (10.57), Michael Power (10.40), John Roy (10.40) and Eddie McCarthy (10.28) competed in the shot put. Matthew Smith (11.33), Power (11.05), Josh Smith (10.79), Traore (9.97) and Frank Irizarry (9.52) participated in the weight throw. Both Traore and Roy made their collegiate debuts, while Power produced a personal-best in the weight throw.  

Suffolk will conclude its first semester action next Saturday, Dec. 10 when it competes at the UMass Invite at the Track at New Balance.
