WINTHROP, Mass. – Following a championship season, the Suffolk men's indoor track and field team came away with two individual Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) majors: senior Matyas Csiki-Fejer was named the Track Athlete of the Year, while head coach Will Feldman was crowned GNAC Coach of the Year.
Csiki-Fejer, a four-year standout for the blue-and-gold, excelled in indoor action following his All-American selection during the fall's cross country season. The only GNAC Champion to run at NCAAs, fnishing ninth at nationals in the 3000, just seconds away from being an All-American. He was also GNAC Champion in the mile and 3000. He is the only student-athlete in GNAC history to capture the mile and 3000 crowns and displaced his own meet records, set back in 2020, in both events. In the mile, he paced the 18-runner field and crossed the finish line in 4:24.08. IN the 3000, the Manchester, Missouri, native coasted to a first-place finish, 8:59.39. He also anchored the GNAC Champion Distance Medley Relay Team. He remains the only student-athlete in GNAC history to be tabbed GNAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year as he became the first to pick up the feat in the inaugural season in 2020.
Feldman was once again honored by his peers as the best coach of the season. He is the only coach to garner the distinction from the GNAC for men's indoor track & field in the sport's history as he was the first coach to earn the acknowledgement back in 2020.
In addition to the athletic awards, Robert Solari represented the Rams on the conference's All-Sportsmanship team, which was established to honor one player from each team in the league for outstanding dedication to sportsmanship and for their portrayal of good sportsmanship, fair play and positive attitude.
