Men’s Indoor Track & Field Sweeps GNAC Weekly Awards, Again

THE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. – Tim Barry and Michael Balestra of the Suffolk men's indoor track & field combined for the three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards. Barry grabbed both track athlete and rookie of the week, while Balestra took home field athlete of the week. The awards come on the heels of performances at the Wheaton Pre-Post Season Invitational.

Barry earned his spot at New Englands in the mile when the sophomore clocked a personal-best 4:19.86 mile. His time topped the 17-runner field.

Balestra, meanwhile, shined in the weight throw as his 14.15-meter toss was good to take first in the 10-competitior field.

Barry is the fourth Ram to earn a weekly accolade from the league this year. Those four Suffolk student-athletes have combined for 10 weekly awards. In addition to Barry's two, Balestra owns two as well along with Matyas Csiki-Fejerowns a pair of track athlete nods. Carter Nevulis is the most decorated Suffolk student-athlete on a weekly level with four awards.

Suffolk's indoor season continues this weekend as the Rams that qualified will vie for regional glory at NCAA Division III New Englands in Middlebury, Vermont.
