Nevulis Grabs GNAC Track Athlete, Rookie of the Week

GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. – Carter Nevulis of the Suffolk men's indoor track & field team earned both Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors after his performance at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener Dec. 4, the conference office unveiled.

Nevulis became the first Suffolk indoor track & field sprinter/hurdler to qualify for New Englands in the 60M hurdles behind a Rams record time of 8.91, good for 14th in the field of 30 at BU. Also, at the event, which served as his collegiate debut, which featured foes from all NCAA divisions, he leaped a program-best 6.31 meters in the long jump.

Nevulis is the first Suffolk student-athlete to take home multiple weekly awards from the GNAC over a seven-day stretch since Connor Baston did so with GNAC Co-Athlete of the Week and Rookie of the Week status Dec. 16, 2019. The Plymouth, Massachusetts local is the first Ram to take home the league's best track athlete of the week since Matyas Csiki-Fejer garnered the nod March 2, 2020. Rookie wise, Nevulis is the first Ram to be conference's best rookie since Baston took home the honor Feb. 11, 2020.

Nevulis and Suffolk will take off the next month for finals and the holidays before returning to action Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Panther Invitational at Plymouth State.
