Men’s Tennis Readies for Back-to-Back Bouts vs. Curry, UMass Boston

BOSTON – In the midst of a four-match homestand, the Suffolk men's tennis team is set for a pair of non-conference contests over two days as it entertains Curry and UMass Boston. The Rams will first welcome the Colonels to Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Wednesday, March 28 for a 3:30 p.m. tilt, before hosting the Beacons the following day, Thursday, March 29 at 4:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk men's tennis team dropped a 6-2 decision to Wentworth March 22 in the Rams' 2018 debut at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (0-1) earned one point in doubles action and in singles play in its season opener versus Wentworth. The tandem of sophomore Kevin Greenman and junior Rami Esrawi were responsible for getting the Rams on the board on the doubles court with a win in the third slot. In singles action, Omar Azzaoui is the lone Suffolk player with a win as the sophomore earned a thrilling super tiebreaker point as the Rams ace.

COLONELS CATCHUP
Curry is seven games into its schedule and has yet to find the win column. Prior to meeting Suffolk on Wednesday, the Colonels will visit Eastern Nazarene Tuesday, March 27. 

Aidan Roach has played the most as Curry's ace and has teamed up with Dawson Stenton to compose the Colonel's top tandem. Curry has been the most successful on singles courts seven and eight behind the racquets of Zach Muller and Samuel Pitts.

BEACONS BREAKDOWN
After being swept in in back-to-back contests in the south over Spring Break, UMass Boston coupled two consecutive victories on March 24 to move to 2-3 on the season. 

A trio of Beacons has seen time on the top singles court with Josh Bashin owning the lone victory. Overall, he sits at 2-1 on the season in the upper half of the ladder. In doubles, the partnership of Onkgopotse Mokoka and Tim Tran are the most experienced with six matches in tournament play and a pair of matches in dual play in spots two and three.

Suffolk closes its homestand and March action Saturday, March 31 versus its Boston Commons neighbor Emerson. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
