Men's Tennis Ends Season at Norwich with 7-2 loss

BOSTON - In its final match of the 2016 campaign, the Suffolk men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Norwich in GNAC action Saturday afternoon at Shapiro Field House.

The Cadets took an early lead, sweeping the Rams through the first three sets of doubles play. Suffolk's Alonso Vela opened up singles action with a victory over Ian Hyte, winning his games 6-4 and 7-6. Norwich went on to take the following four sets before Jose Gonzalez closed the match with an overtime win over Hadley Ellis.

Vela and freshman Chris Parnagian finished the year tied for the team-high in singles wins with four each while the duos of Vela and Francesco Saia and Anton Boubnov and Rami Esrawi shared the team lead with three wins on the season in doubles play.

The loss pushed Suffolk to 3-9 on the year and 0-2 in GNAC play to end the schedule.
