BOSTON – After closing out its final home match of the regular season Wednesday night, the Suffolk men's tennis team will hit the road for the remainder of the 2016 schedule, making its first two stops at Salem State and Johnson & Wales this Thursday and Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT

Suffolk dropped its final regular season home game, 6-3 to UMass Dartmouth Wednesday night at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols.

The Corsairs took an early lead as they defeated the Rams in the first two doubles sets of the match, but the pair of Rami Esrawi and Anton Boubnov came back to win the final set, 7-3 on a tiebreaker, notching their third win of the season as a duo.

Boubnov was also victorious in singles play as the junior defeated the Corsairs' Tony Xie, 8-6 to record his second win of the year. Junior Francesco Saia also came out on top in his singles set as he took down Corey Rafter, 10-6 on a tiebreaker.

THE SCOOP ON SALEM STATE

Salem State enters Thursday's match against Suffolk at 3-3 on the season. Freshman Chen Chen boasts a team-high 4-2 record in singles play while all three of the Vikings' doubles pairs have at least three wins so far this year.

In Salem's most recent matchup against Emerson, the Vikings defeated the Lions 6-3 with Chen, Kevin Lam and David Dluznieski all notching victories in singles play and the pair of Chen and Dluzneiski coming out on top in doubles.

Suffolk is 4-2 in matches against the Vikings since 2010.

WHAT'S UP WITH THE WILDCATS

Following Thursday's contest at Salem State, the Rams will travel to Rhode Island College to meet Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon in their first conference match of the season.  The Wildcats are 9-4 on the 2015-16 season heading into their Thursday afternoon contest at Rhode Island College. Johnson & Wales is led by Jorge Mancebo who is 11-2 overall in singles play, followed by Taylor Farmer who holds a 9-1 record.

The Rams are 7-2 in matches against the Wildcats since 2009.

WHAT'S NEXT

Following Saturday's match, the Rams will head back on the road to take on Wheaton Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
