Men’s Soccer Remains in United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings

UNITED SOCCER COACHES REGION II RANKINGS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A week after making the program debut in the United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings, the Suffolk men's soccer team held onto its top-8 position in Region II as the Rams land fifth in the Poll II edition, the national organization announced Tuesday.

Suffolk moved down one spot behind Framingham State, who made its first appearance in the poll this season, after the FSU Rams bested the Boston Rams, 2-1, in a non-conference affair Tuesday, Sept. 12. The blue-and-gold righted that set-back with a convincing 4-0 cleansheet over Wentworth Friday, Sept. 15 to get its Commonwealth Coast Conference calendar underway.

Speaking of the CCC, Suffolk's conference counterpart Roger Williams rounded out the eight-team poll in eighth after making their debut at third a week ago.

Bill Maddock's Rams are 3-2-1 on the year and 1-0-0 in CCC contests. Suffolk has had a powerful 10-goal offense through six games with a dozen different players holding at least one point led by Brady Sorensen's (2g, 1a) five.

The Rams true success has come from its defense thus far, including its pair of keepers in junior Xander Balog (1.00 GAA, .714) and Nathan Harlow (1.00 GAA, .833 save percentage), who have combined for three shutouts.

Suffolk will be back in action tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 19 when it hosts Mass. Maritime in a non-league affair at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park at 7 p.m.
