Roger Williams Slips by Men’s Soccer, 1-0

EAST BOSTON – A goal just under two minutes into the contest proved to be the difference for Roger Williams to end Suffolk men's win streak and take down the Rams in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action, 1-0, Saturday at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Roger Williams 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-3-2, 1-1-1 CCC) | Roger Williams (8-1-2, 3-0-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Roger Williams received their first corner kick opportunity with just 1:40 removed from the cock. Javi Beltran floated the rock into the pack of players in front of Suffolk's net. Niall Shea put a head on it towards Xander Balog, who was there to make the save. The sophomore sent the ball loose though and John McCarthy was tehre to pick up the pieces and put it away to open the scoring.

Things remained 1-0 Hawks for the remainder of the first frame despite the Rams attacking the target with five opportunities, all of which were turned aside by Jack Avellar.

Chasing one goal, Suffolk picked up the pace in the second set of 45 minutes. The Rams managed to take 10 shots, compared to the Hawks seven. Once again Avellar denied the chances the blue-and-gold put on target to keep the score still the rest of the way.
