BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer caps off a three-game homestay Saturday, Oct. 1 with a Breast Cancer Awareness game against Commonwealth Coast Conference counterpart Roger Williams. Action at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park is scheduled to begin at noon.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Join Suffolk men's soccer in the fight against breast cancer on Saturday, Oct. 1.  

All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause. Donations will be collected online here and benefit Susan G. Komen, a breast cancer organization  that addresses the disease on multiple fronts in order to make the biggest impact it can. 

LAST TIME OUT
After a scoreless first half, Suffolk men's soccer put away three unanswered goals to take down MIT, 3-0, Wednesday night at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. The win marks the Rams' second-ever over the Engineers in program history.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is unbeaten in its last four with three shutout victories in a row that put the Rams at 6-2-2 on the year and 1-0-1 in CCC contests.  

The blue-and-gold's 19-goal offense has seen 11 goal scorers paced by Carter Van Buskirk's three. Taj Jensen,Brady SorensenAndrew AwadaTJ Maselek, and Damon Smargon have all found the back of the net twice. Van Buskirk holds the top spot on the team in points with eight thanks to a pair of assists to go with three handouts. 

Xander Balog has played every minute in net. He sports a 0.80 GAA and .810 save percentage in his 10 games played en route to an identical personal record, 6-2-2, with five cleansheets.  

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Roger Williams holds a 7-1-2 record with a 2-0-0 CCC ledger.  

The Hawks have one of, if not the most, powerful offense in the conference with 41 goals scored. Javi Beltran is the biggest threat with team-best numbers in goals (5), assists (3) and points (13). Liam Blaisdell (3g) and Justin Horvath (2g, 2a) share second on the squad with six points apiece.

Three different sets of gloves have defended RWU's cage this season. Hogan Cain and Jack Avellar have seen the most time with four starts apiece. Cain has a 0.47 GAA and 0.87 save percentage for an unbeaten 4-0-1 record, while Avellar boasts a 1.25 GAA and 0.750 save percentage and 3-1-0 mark.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk has yet to find the win column against Roger Williams. 
  • The Rams are 0-2-0 all-time against the Hawks in a series that started in 1990 and was renewed a year ago. 
  • Last season, the blue-and-gold was shutout by RWU, 1-0, Oct. 26, 2021. 
  • Suffolk will host Roger Williams for the first time in program history.
