BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer takes the road for its next three battles with Framingham State its first stop Tuesday, Sept. 13 for a 4:30 p.m. kick-off.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's soccer played to a 1-1 draw against the Emerson College Lions on Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park after allowing a late penalty kick goal. The game was played as a cause game, bringing awareness to Suicide Prevention.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk holds a 3-1-1 record on the season through its first five games. The Rams opened the year with three wins in a row, fell to Emmanuel, 2-1, and tied Emerson, 1-1. 

Offensively, Carter Van Buskirk has led the way thus far. He has seven points, all of which came in the last four games, on a team-best three goals and one helper. Miguel Varela, who opened the year with a three-game point streak, is second on the squad with five points on a team-high three helpers and one strike. 

Xander Balog is the Rams' lone goalie with experience thus far in 2022. He brings in a 0.80 GAA and .810 save percentage with an identical record as the teams (3-1-1) with a pair of shutouts.  

FRAMINGHAM STATE FACTS
Framingham State holds a 1-2-1 record. The Rams opened the year with a 5-5 tie at UMass Dartmouth followed by a 4-2 win at St. Joseph (Conn.), before falling to Clark (2-1) and Eastern Connecticut State (4-1).  

Bryce Nardizzi anchors FSU's scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. Gustav Hemmingsen is second with a six-point stat line evenly divided between goals (2) and assists (2). Both Bagriel Padilla dn Sherak Ayamga have found the back of the net twice. 

Joseph Sturzo and James Hartshorn have split time in net for Framingham. In three games played, Hartshorn has built a 3.30 GAA and .600 save percentage, while Sturzo boasts a 3.21 GAA and .650 save percentage in his four appearances.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • With its 2-1 win a year ago, Suffolk leveled the all-time series with Framingham State, 5-5-1 (since 2002). 
  • The Boston Rams snapped a five-game skid against the FSU Rams, Sept. 15, 2021 via a 2-1 decision in Boston. 
  • Suffolk is 1-2-1 when battling FSU on the road.
  • The blue-and-gold is 4-3-0 when playing Framingham State in Boston. 
  • Five outings between Suffolk and Framingham State have been shutouts. The blue-and-gold is 2-3-0 in such outings. 
  • Suffolk and FSU have needed extra time to determine a winner just once, Sept. 21, 2005. That meeting ended in a 3-all stalemate.
