Men’s Soccer Tripped Up at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Suffolk men's soccer dropped a 5-0 decision to MIT Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Stadium.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | MIT 5
RECORDS: Suffolk (2-3-0) | MIT (3-1-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Five different Engineers scored a goal to anchor the decisive victory. The scoring started in the 14th minute when John Flynn converted a sliding goal. Aidan Hallinan sent a pass into the box for Flynn, who slid and knocked the ball past Alfredo Serrano Figueroa for the score at 14:03.

Six minutes later Garrett Robinson corralled the ball off a deflection by the Rams and put the ball into the back of the net to double the MIT margin, 2-0.

A save by Figueroa Serrano off a Hendrik Mayer free kick turned into another MIT goal as James Simon found the rebound and put it past the blue-and-gold goalie's gloves in the 28th minute.

Defense on either side of the pitch tightened up and the first frame scoring stopped to keep it a 3-0 game at the intermission.

Things picked up against for the Engineers after Murad Kup took over in net for the Rams. Alex Weiler recovered the ball in a scramble and knocked it into the far corner past a diving Kup to extend the distance to four goals.

The fifth and final tally of the afternoon was put away by Noah Faro, who got the ball in front of the net and knocked it in.
