BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer is set for a road trip this Saturday, Sept. 21 when the Rams visiting Johnson & Wales for a 1 p.m. conference clash at Scots Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex in Providence, Rhode Island.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's soccer saw its GNAC opener spoiled as Albertus Magnus broke open a 1-all tie in the 106th minute thanks to a penalty shot to take the conference clash, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk heads into Saturday's showdown 1-2-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in league action after slipping to Albertus Magnus, 1-0, in double overtime Sept. 14. 

Simon Velez Angel's three goals lead the Rams' five-goal offense with Sunjoon Tenorio responsible for the other pair. Assist wise, Emilio Tenacio has set up two shots, while Trevor Murdock and Christian Restrepo both have handed out one.

In net, Tom Bennett is the blue-and-gold's go-to. The sophomore boasts a .741 save percentage and a 1.66 GAA

WILDCATS WAYS
Johnson & Wales rides the momentum from a 3-0 shutout at Plymouth State into the Suffolk tilt. Conference wise, the 3-2 Wildcats make their GNAC debut Saturday. 

Nick Gutekunst anchors JWU's offense with seven points on a team-best three goals and one helper. Garrett Groeling and JP Rioux share second on the second with five points behind two tallies and one assist. Szymon Gawlick (1g, 2a) is also a consistent contributor with four points, while Erik Schneider is the leader in set-ups with three to his credit.

Austin Scoggin has played every minute in between the pipes for the Wildcats. He sports an identical team record (3-2-0) in net with a .667 save percentage and a 1.20 GAA.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Saturday marks Suffolk and Johnson & Wales' 23rd meeting since 1999.
  • The Rams trail the all-time series with the Wildcats, 8-13-1.
  • JWU has taken the last five contests, three in shutout decisions.
  • Eight outings have been cleansheets with the Rams trailing such contests, 2-6.
  • Suffolk and JWU have tangled in overtime once in the all-time meetings. In 2005 neither team came out on top with the contest ending in a 1-1 stalemate after two OTs.
