BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer gets its GNAC calendar going this Saturday, Sept. 14 as it entertains Albertus Magnus at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
With overtime looming, Sunjoon Tenorio found the back of the net in the dying minutes to help Suffolk men's soccer book its first win of the 2019 campaign, a 1-0 win decision over Lesley on Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Coming of its thrilling 1-0 win over Lesley, Suffolk brings a 1-1-1 record into Saturday's showdown. 

Simon Velez Angel has been the main catalyst to Suffolk's offense through three games with the senior responsible for 75 percent (3-4) of the Rams' goals. Sunjoon Tenorio is the only other Ram to find the back of the net and did so in game-winning fashion against the Lynx.  When it comes to assists, Emilio Tenacio has given out two, while Christian Restrepo and Trevor Murdock each handout out one.

Tom Bennett has been Suffolk's go to goalie. The sophomore sports a .750 save percentage and a 1.65 GAA over three starts.

FALCONS FACTS
Albertus Magnus opened the year with three straight shutouts, but slipped up in overtime in its last outing at Pine  Manor, 4-3, to head into Saturday, 3-1-0 on the year. 

Salah Oumorou has catapulted the Falcons to success with a five-goal, three-assist stat line over four games. Anthony Barreira is also an offensive threat with three goals and one handout to his credit.

Jared Brennan has played every minute in net for Albertus. In four games, he has faced 24 shots, turning aside 20 of them for a .833 save percentage and a 0.97 GAA. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk fell to Albertus Magnus, 3-2, a year ago to move to 8-16-1 all-time versus the Falcons.
  • Overall, a dozen matches in the Suffolk, Albertus Magnus series have been decided via shutout. The Rams own seven of those victories.
  • Suffolk looks to earn its first win over the Falcons since keeping them off the scoreboard in a 2-0 win Oct. 29, 2016. 

EYES ON THE GAME

  • Since 2002, Suffolk is 5-9-2 in GNAC openers.
  • Suffolk picked up its first conference win of the season a year ago in the form of a 3-1 decision over Rivier.
  • Suffolk and Albertus Magnus will meet for the fourth time in the Rams' league debut since 2002, first since 2017. In those meetings, Suffolk is 1-3-0.  
  • Overall, five of the Rams GNAC openers have been decided in shutout fashion with the blue-and-gold boasting a 2-3-0 ledger in such contests. 

DOUBLE FEATURE
For the second straight Saturday and second time in as many home games, Suffolk soccer will partake in a double feature with the women's teams hosting Simmons in a matinee at noon and the men wrapping things up at 3 p.m. versus the Falcons.

LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk hits the road next weekend when it travels to Johnson & Wales Saturday, Sept. 1. Game time in Providence, Rhode Island is scheduled for 1 p.m.
