Pine Manor Topples Men’s Soccer

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – A quick, aggressive Pine Manor squad proved to be too much for the Suffolk men's soccer team, as Kelvin Chico netted a hat trick en route to 3-0 victory in the Rams first road contest of the season Saturday afternoon at Hedley Field. The win is Pine Manor's (1-1) first of the season, while the Rams (0-2) remains in search of its first victory.

Pine Manor's up-tempo pace was on display early, as the Gators manufactured a good look in the opening three minutes of the game. The Rams did not have a chance counter as Chico put in his goal of the day. The freshman midfielder played used a pass from Jacob Curran and sent one through the middle past Ianis Teixeira for a 1-0 lead at 4:21.  

The squads traded shot, before Pine Manor peppered Texieria with three consecutive shots. The junior goalkeeper made the saves and kept it a one-goal game. The score would not remain the same for long, however as Chico tallied his second goal of the day and second in the season. Kenardo Dwyer slid the ball across the box to the right side where Chico put it away in the far side that the 16th minute mark

When the clock hit 26, Chico struck again. This time Hakeem Duncan got in on the action with the assist as Chico played up the wing, dribbled in and scored to bring the score to 3-0.

The Rams took the field with renewed vigor in the second stanza, earning a corner kick within the first 10 minutes and keeping the ball towards the Pine Manor goal. The Gators steadily swung the momentum back to their side in middle portion of the half to hold onto the victory.

Suffolk is back in action Thursday, Sept. 10 as it makes the trip to Salve Regina for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
