WORCESTER, Mass. – Suffolk men's hockey opened action at the Steve Hoar Invitational with a 9-0 setback to Wilkes Saturday night at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

RECORDS: Suffolk (2-6-0) | Wilkes (7-1-0)  

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wilkes had their skates on the gas pedal and never took them off as a two-goal first frame margin doubled after the second stanza.  

The Colonels did more damage in the third period with five goals, two on the power play, to take down the Rams.  

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Nathan Pickett and Cal Wilcox split time between the pipes for the blue-and-gold. The former made 19 saves, while the latter picked up 18 pucks. 
  • Michael Paterson-Jones registered 17 stops for the shutout.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • The Colonels held a hefty advantage in shots, 46-17. 
  • Wilkes won the face-off battle as well, 38-22.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk and Wilkes met for the first time.
