Hockey Stops Becker, 4-2

BOSTON, Mass. --  Goals by junior Zach Barron (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman Matt Robertson (Whitman, Mass.) that came 24 seconds apart midway through the second period lifted Suffolk to a 4-2 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Becker Tuesday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

The host Rams (7-9-2, 3-3-1 ECAC Northeast) jumped out to a 1-0 advantage 12 minutes into the contest on a goal by senior Niles Moore (Columbus, Ohio), but the visiting Hawks (8-8-1, 4-3 ECAC Northeast) evened matters 7:11 into the second stanza on a goal off the stick of sophomore Max Keagle (Elkhart, Ind.).  Barron gave Suffolk the lead for good at the 13:07 mark of the middle period with a power play tally, and Robertson's marker just 24 seconds later extended the hosts' edge to 3-1 after 40 minutes of action.  Freshman David Graham's (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) power play goal 32 seconds into the final period sliced Becker's deficit in half, but freshman Jason Molle (Stoneham, Mass.) iced the triumph for the Rams with an empty-net shorthanded goal with 53 seconds remaining to close out the scoring.

Moore finished with a goal and an assist in the victory for Suffolk, which also received a pair of assists off the stick of senior Pat Welch (Dorchester, Mass.) as well as single helpers from senior Joe Drago (Waltham, Mass.), junior Tom Coulstring (Whitman, Mass.), sophomore J. Andrew Wein (Barnegat, N.J.) and freshman Andrew Monesi (Simi Valley, Calif.).  Sophomore Patrick Bellew (Newington, Conn.) assisted on Keagle's goal in the setback for Becker, which also received a  helper from freshman Branden Parkhouse (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) on Graham's tally.

Junior Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) picked up the win in goal for Suffolk with a 23-save effort, while sophomore Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, N.Y.) made 17 stops in the setback for Becker as the Hawks outshot the Rams by a 25-21 margin for the contest.

Suffolk hosts Johnson & Wales in an ECAC Northeast outing on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena that faces off at 4:00 p.m., while Becker travels to Milton, Mass. on Saturday
afternoon to take on Curry in an ECAC Northeast match-up that begins at 4:35 p.m.
