Men’s Golf to Compete at Emmanuel Invitational Wednesday


BOSTON – The Suffolk men's golf team heads back out on the course Wednesday, Sept. 27 as the Rams are set to compete at the Emmanuel Invitational at the William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park. Tee is set for 12 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
In its season opener, the Suffolk men's golf team put together a second-place showing at the EC Saints Invitational Sept. 12 at George Wright Golf Course.

THE COURSE
William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park was established October 26, 1986 and is the second oldest public golf course in the nation behind Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx borough of New York City. 

William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park is the place where the leading figures of golf converge in history: the player who won America's first professional match became the first head professional here (Willie Campbell); the youngster who ushered the American game to the forefront of the world stage honed his craft here (Bobby Jones); the world's premiere golf architect re-designed the layout here (Donald J. Ross). 

THE COMPETITION
Four teams will tee-off Wednesday afternoon including GNAC member and host Emmanuel. Elms and Fisher will join the Rams and Saints on the green as well. 

WHAT'S NEXT
Suffolk will head out for its first multi-day event of 2017, the Blazer Fall Invitational Oct. 8-9. The two-day event at Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst, Massachusetts, will prep the Rams for the 2017 GNAC Championships, which are scheduled for Oct. 14-15 at the Valley Country Club in Warwick, Rhode Island.
