Men’s Golf Wraps Up 2016 Fall Season at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass. – The Suffolk men's golf team took to the links at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts, with 32 colleges and universities across New England and New York for the 82nd Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship and its fall season finale over the weekend. 

The Rams finished the two-day competition with 661 strokes to place 16th among the 22 Division III teams in the field. Babson won the event with a 617 card, followed by Husson (624), Nichols (633), Tufts (635) and Western New England (635) in the top five. 

For the second straight year Stephen Ferrante was the Rams' top finisher, following up an 80 day-one performance with a 79 card on day two for a 159 total, good for a tie for 21st out of over 100 golfers. Owen Boggini tallied an 85 followed by an 80, putting the freshman in a tie for 56th, followed closely by classmate Demetrois Stamouli with a 166 thanks to scores of 84 and 83, respectively.

Patrick Hambleton and rookie Elias Sachs rounded out the golfers in blue and gold. Hambleton posted a 170, while Sachs shot 186. 

The Rams put away their clubs until the spring when they once again take part in the three tournament spring series.
