Men’s Basketball Tripped Up On the Road at JWU

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales Wildcats cruised past the Suffolk men's basketball team, 94-57, Saturday afternoon at the Wildcat Center.

SCORE: Suffolk 57, Johnson & Wales 94
RECORDS: Suffolk (8-7, 3-3 GNAC) | Johnson & Wales (8-8, 5-2 GNAC)

Johnson & Wales scored the first two hoops of the contest and continued to pile on the points from there quickly turning a 10-point advantage into 20. Suffolk found itself down by as many as 27, twice, but thanks to threes from Brendan Mulson and Michael Hagopian over the final two minutes, the Rams trimmed the deficit to 46-24 at the break.

Suffolk had a lot of ground to make up out of the locker rooms, but instead the team's traded hoop instead. After a layup from Kevin Querusio, the Wildcats scored 13 consecutive points to put the game just out of reach, taking a 62-28 cushion.

JWU went up by as many as 40, 83-43, and went on for a 94-57 consecutive win.

  • Hagopian dropped 20 points on an 8-for-16 effort from the floor and a 4-for-7 performance from three-point land. The junior pulled down six boards to go along with a pair of steals and one dime.
  • Thomas Duffy recorded 12 points and grabbed three caroms.
  • Mulson rounded out the Rams in double digits with 11.

  • Hagopian put together his fourth game with 20-plus points this season.
