Saturday marks the first of five of Suffolk basketball double headers with the women's squad.

Last season, Suffolk went 1-2 when playing the same day inside Regan Gymnasium as the women's team.

Suffolk looks to return to the win column as the Rams won their season opener, defeating Brandeis, 75-67, in front of its home fans, but have slipped on the road in the last four meetings to enter conference competition 1-4 on the year.

Thomas Duffy has had a standout sophomore season thus far as the guard has dropped 20-plus points in all, but one of Suffolk's games this year. Duffy averages 20.4 ppg on a 48.6 connection rate from the floor and is shooting 54.5 percent behind the arc. Junior Michael Hagopian joins Duffy in double digits with 13.4 ppg.

A trio of Rams help the team's 28.2 rpg in Kevin Querusio (4.6 rpg), George Grillakis (4.4 rpg) and Hagopian (4.0 rpg).

Saint Joseph's (Maine) has sandwiched wins around two losses to enter Saturday's showdown at 2-2 overall. The Monks are coming off a 59-53 victory over Southern Maine to prep for their GNAC opener.

Ian Mileikis and Darian Berry anchor the Monks' 71.3 ppg offense with 16.5 ppg and 12.0 ppg, respectively. The pair help the effort on the glass with the former chipping in 4.5 rpg and the latter adding 5.8 rpg, but its Jack Casale's 7.0 rpg that lead the way.

Suffolk and Saint Joseph's (Maine) will take the hardwood for the 31st time. The Rams have taken down the Monks just four times in 30 previous meetings and were swept in the two regular-season games last season.

Suffolk lifts the lid on the GNAC portion of its schedule versus Saint Joseph's (Maine) for the second straight season and third time overall. When meeting the Monks in the first conference contest of the season, Suffolk is 1-1.

Overall, the Rams own an 8-10 record in the first league game of the season, but has not taken home a win in the first conference outing of the campaign since 2013-14.

When it comes to location, Suffolk has opened up league action at home 14 times including the last 11 straight.

Suffolk steps out of conference action next week as it heads to Wheelock Monday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. before hosting Lesley Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
