BABSON PARK, Mass. – Suffolk baseball fell to No. 20/29 Babson, 13-3, in eight innings Wednesday afternoon at Govoni Field.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | No. 20/29 Babson 13
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-11) | No. 20/29 Babson (9-3)
HOW IT HAPPENED
An error in the bottom of the first allowed the Beavers to keep the inning alive and put up four runs to force Suffolk to play catch-up early.
The Rams managed to slice the margin to one in the top of the third behind three consecutive one-run base hits. Max Iorio was responsible for the first RBI that brought in Max Martin, who doubled, Sam Armbruster collected one RBI when Alex Sorenti-Burns, who walked, came in and Jack Mihalchik scored Iorio.
The one-run game remained until the bottom of the sixth when Babson put up a lopsided six-runs to put the Rams in a 10-3 hole.
Suffolk's offense never found its grove again and the Beavers scored two more runs in the seventh and a sac fly in the eighth sealed the 10-run rule decision.
