Rick Cox was hired in the summer of 2018 and begins his fourth year as Suffolk's Head Athletic Trainer in 2021-22.

Cox took over a newly re-vamped structure in Suffolk Athletic Training with three-full time athletic trainers for the Rams' 19 intercollegiate teams.

No stranger to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s (GNAC) structure, Cox brought his talents across town from the Rams’ former conference counterpart Emmanuel where he served as the Saints’ Assistant Athletic Trainer for Strength & Conditioning for three seasons.

Cox has athletic training roots at both the high school and collegiate levels. Prior to his stint at Emmanuel, he was the Associate Athletic Trainer and Coordinater of Strength and Conditioning at St. Marks School in Southborough, Massachusetts from 2012-15 and spent two years as the Assistant Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Brandeis.

In addition to being a certified Athletic Trainer, Cox is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS), as well as a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC).

The South Shore native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at Bridgewater State in 2008, where he was tabbed BSU’s Athletic Training Student of the Year as a senior. Cox furthered his education and sport medicine knowledge at BSU with a 2010 Master’s Degree in Strength in Conditioning.
