BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's cross country swept the Conference of New England (CNE) Weekly Awards as Amalia Dorion was named CNE Runner of the Week and Megan Dunn was tabbed CNE Rookie of the Week thanks to their performances at the Cardinal Invitational, the league office announced Monday.
It is the first time since Sept. 20, 2021 that Suffolk took home runner and rookie of the week in the same seven-day span. Dunn collected her second weekly distinction of the season with her second rookie of the week nod, while Dorion was recognized for the first time in her Suffolk career. The grad student is the first Ram to be tabbed the best runner of the week since Ellie Davis took home the honor sept. 26, 2022.
The accolades come on the heels of the efforts at the Cardinal Invitational, which featured national and regional opponents and Suffolk finished seventh as a squad. Dorion paced Suffolk's squad with a 22:49.9 6k to claim 32nd in the field of 129. She was the best CNE student-athlete on The Wes Furhman'05 Trails Cross Country Course that feature the Endicott Gulls as well.
Dunn clocked a 24:35.3 in her first collegiate 6k to take home 87th.
Suffolk is off from action until Friday, Oct. 4 when it travels to Terre Haute, Indiana for the Pre-National Championship at the Rose Hulman.
