Women’s Cross Country Finishes Second at Wheaton & Babson Season Opener

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Suffolk women's cross country had a stand-out season debut as the Rams placed second at the 10th annual Wheaton & Babson Season Opener Saturday morning at Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park.  

The Rams, who received the highest regional ranking in program history early this week, slid into second with 37 points behind Holy Cross, who topped the eight-team field with 32 points. Brandeis (83), Stonehill (98) and Babson (114) rounded out the top five. 

SUFFOLK'S SCORERS

  • Amalia Dorion and Sydney Fogg had top five finishes. The former clocked a 11:32.17 3k to take third, while the latter came through the chute in 11:44.46, good for fifth in the field of 81. 
  • Sofia Moukaddem landed just outside the top five as she clocked an 11:46.69 to claim sixth. 
  • Emily Concepcion, meanwhile, turned in a 12:01.25, good for 11th. 
  • Shannon Groom and Bailey Ford were separated by two spots in 46th and 48th, respectively. The former ran a 13:01.68, while the latter produced a 13:03.10. 
  • Megan Dunn produced a 13:19.28 performance to lock up 52nd. 

RAMS RECORDS

  • Fogg (11:44.46) compiled a personal-best 3k.

Suffolk will take the next two weeks off to prep for the Cardinal Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21 in Middletown, Conn.
