Women’s Cross Country Takes 12th at Blugold Invite

COLFAX, Wis. – In its toughest competition to date this season, Suffolk women's cross country claimed 12th at the Blugold Invite at Whitetail Golf Course Friday.  

The Rams combined for 324 points to finish in the top-tier of the 25-team pack that featured four programs currently in the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top-25 including the podium finishes, No. 4 Carleton, No. 9 St. Olaf and the host No. 22 Wisconsin EAU Claire, who placed first through third, respectively. The blue-and-gold was two points behind No. 8 Wisconsin LA Crosse.  

Ellie Davis led the Rams on the course as the graduate student crossed the 6k tape in 23:45.2 to claim 43rd. Sophomore Amy Pattelena was three spots behind Davis with a personal-best 23:49.3. 

Sydney Foggs's 24:06.0 was good for 69th, while Paige Estaphan took 99th in her first collegiate 6k as she came through the finisher's chute in 24:40.1. 

Sarah Roberts (24:46.8), Katelynn Brunt (25:56.8) and Malory Taylor 27:01.3) rounded out the Rams on the course. 

DEBUTS

  • As a team, Suffolk ran its first 6k of the season. 
  • Both Estaphan and Taylor raced a 6k for the first time in their collegiate careers. 

RAMS RECORDS

  • Pattelena put together a personal-best 6k of 23:49.3. 

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk will return to Boston to prep for its own meet, the Suffolk Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 14. When the Rams race at Franklin Park in two weeks it will serve as the Battle for Boston Common, a head-to-head with their Beantown neighbor Emerson.
