Women’s Cross Country Climbs to Seventh in East in USTFCCCA Poll

USTFCCCA RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country jumped up in the East Region in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll with the Rams spotted seventh, the national organization unveiled.

It is the first time in program history the Rams landed seventh, surpassing the previous program record of eighth, which Suffolk has held the previous two weeks of the season. Will Feldman's team moved ahead in the ranks after besting Colby and Bowdoin at the Bates Invitational Sunday in Auburn, Maine. At the invite, both the Mules were ranked ninth in the East, while the Polar Bears held the sixth spot in the region.

The blue-and-gold has been featured in all, but one weekly regional poll by the USTFCCCA since emerging in the regional ranks in week 7 edition of the 2021 campaign. The Rams are the lone Commonwealth Coast Conference team to make the regional ranks thus far this season.

The USTFCCCA Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining a rank-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCAC began in 2010.

Suffolk has this week off to train for the Blugold Invite Friday, Sept. 29 in Colfax, Wisconsin.
