Women’s Cross Country Remains Eighth in East in USTFCCCA Rankings

USTFCCCA RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country held onto the eighth spot in the East in the week one edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches association (USTFCCCA) Preseason Regional Rankings, the national organization unveiled.

It is the third time in Suffolk's record book and second straight week that the Rams earned the eighth-place position after the blue-and-gold appeared in the 2023 preseason regional rankings at the same position.

Suffolk has been featured in all, but one weekly regional poll by the USTFCCCA since emerging in the regional ranks in week 7 edition of the 2021 campaign. The Rams are the lone Commonweatlh Coast Conference team to make the regional ranks.

The USTFCCCA Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining a rank-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCAC began in 2010.

The Rams, who rested last week after their 2023 debut, the Short Course Classic, will be back in action this week, Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Bates Invitational at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine.
