NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country and runners Ellie Davis and Sydney Fogg received acknowledgement for their combined athletic and academic excellence from the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association. The Rams garnered the 2022 All-Academic Team Award, while both Davis and Fogg earned All-Academic Athlete status from the national organization.

Overall, 237 programs earned the honor, which has been awarded to squads since 1995-96, for teams that achieve a 3.1 combined GPA on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

In the classroom, Will Feldman's Rams put together a 3.547 GPA, which is good for 143rd on the 210-plus teams honored. The distinction is Suffolk's sixth straight and sixth in program history, all of which have come in the Feldman era.

The Rams are one of five Commonwealth Coast Conference programs to take home the recognition. The blue-and-gold holds third highest GPA among the group, which features Endicott (3.79), Salve Regina (3.535), the University of New England (3.51) and Wentworth (3.64).

Davis and Fogg made the list for the first time in their careers and are the first pair to collect the feat since Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse were the first-ever Suffolk student-athletes to do so for their work in 2018, Feldman's first season.

For a student-athlete to be considered, he/she must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Davis made a check mark in both qualification boxes as she paced the Rams runners on the 6k course. The Port Washington, New York, native came through the finisher's chute at the Division III East Regionals in a personal-best 23:20.6 to place 29th of the 243 runners and captured all-region as well. In the classroom, the graduate student, who is studying integrated marketing, compiled a 3.775 GPA.

Fogg, meanwhile, assembled a 3.774 GPA as a biology major. The junior captain, who calls York, Maine home, logged her best individual finish at a regional  race with a 56th-place performance behind a time of 24:08.1.

Suffolk's duo made up half of the four CCC student-athletes recognized with Endicott and UNE represented by one runner each.
