Women’s Cross Country Turns in Best Finish at NCAA DIII Regionals in Program History

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Suffolk women's cross country claimed ninth in the NCAA Division III East Regional Saturday morning on a muddy course on the campus of Bowdoin College.

The Rams nine place finish is the best in program history, surpassing last season's 12th-place showing. The blue-and-gold combined for 58 to earn a spot in the top-10 in the 35-team field. Suffolk's showing was the best of all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) teams on the course finishing ahead of the University of New England (11), Endicott (13), Gordon (15) and Wentworth (29).

Ellie Davis paced the Rams runners on the 6k course as the graduate student came through the finisher's chute in a personal-best 23:20.6 to not only place 29th of the 243 runners, but an all-region nod.

Sydney Fogg logged her best individual finish at the regional race as the junior locked up 56th behind a time of 24:08.1.

Sarah Roberts had a career-high time of 24:12.0 to finish two spots behind her classmate Fogg.

Skyler Goodman logged a 24:42.8 to take 72nd and Amy Pattelena's 24:49.0 saw the freshman finish five spots after the graduate student.

Jocelyn Triscik rounded out the Rams in Vacation Land and the junior cross the tape in a personal-best 26:12.8, good for 127th.

The East Regional was one of 10 events hosted on Saturday throughout the country as teams and student-athletes aimed to punch their respective tickets to the NCAA Division III Championships, on tap for next Saturday, Nov. 19 at Forest Akers East Golf Course in Lansing, Mich.

The winner of each regional received an automatic bid to the biggest race of the season, while the NCAA DIII Cross Country Committee will then select 22 at-large teams in each gender and 70 student-athletes for at-large bids. The 70 additional participants are award to the top seven runners in each region not attached to a team.

The entire field for the men's and women's cross country championships will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 12 via afternoon press release on NCAA.com.
