USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Thanks to its performance at the Bowdoin Invitational Saturday, Suffolk women's cross country earned its place back in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings as the national organization unveiled the Rams sit ninth in the east.

Suffolk, who opened the 2022 campaign ninth in the east and stayed there through week one, was bounced out of the rankings a week ago. The Rams worked their way back in behind its third-place finish in Brunswick, Maine over the weekend. The blue-and-gold saw its best showing thus far in 2022 with multiple records written en route to topping Colby, who was and still is ranked seven in the east, and falling closely behind nationally ranked Bowdoin and Tufts.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining a rank-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

The Rams are one of two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) members to earn a place on the week two edition of the poll, as the University of New Engalnd sit 10th. Suffolk has appeared in the poll for the third time this season and fourth time overall.

Suffolk is taking a break from its competition circuit until Saturday, Oct. 15 when it puts on the Suffolk Invitational and Battle for Boston Common at Franklin Park.
