Women’s Cross Country Makes Program Debut in USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – Days after capturing the 2021 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, the Suffolk women's cross country team emerged in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings as the national organization unveiled in an announcement made Tuesday afternoon. In the week seven edition of the weekly coaches' poll, the blue-and-gold appeared in the top 10 in the East. 

For the first time in program history the Rams women made their way into the poll and dis so in the 10th position. This comes after Suffolk surprised its CCC counterparts by hoisting the league title its first year in the league Saturday, Oct. 30 at Western New England. The title was not only the program's first crown, but the first CCC Championship for Suffolk University.  

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current results, when applicable, in determining in a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA dates back to 2010. 

Suffolk looks to take momentum from its CCC Championship into the 2021 NCAA Division III East Regionals, which the Rams are hosting at Franklin Park Saturday, Nov. 13 at Franklin Park.
